Genius hour is over so all my crafts and things will be in "Crafts I Do"
I was having a sleepover and my grandma loves to sew anything she is good at anything with a thread and needle. You name it she has done it. So she taught me how to right words in two different way one ways one was embroidery where you overlap each stitch not the easiest. Then she taught me how to do it in X's it's called counted cross stitch it's a bit harder which I like. All you do is go diagonal all along a row and then finish the X going back (hard to explain over a blog). This picture here is my first try. I am going to write made by Sage in Embroidery and find something else to write in counted cross stitch. As for the image you see X's on the top two rows but the bottom row has only one the one was there for my grandma to show me how to do end it ( I would show a picture of me working on it with my grandma but she can't stand pictures I get paid sometimes to take some of her) anyways you would finish the X by almost how you write an X. Hard to explain but that is what I learned. If you want to see what you can make with the X's there is a picture down below ( my grandma made it) I could not do it yet. That picture below is made completely from X's. Sorry about the order in my blogs by the way I was on Vacation and I got behind on my blogs.
I had extra fabric and didn't know what to make I thought should I put it in our bucket of scraps or use it. Somehow I thought of making a neck warmer I had the perfect amount anyways why not. So I was looking around for something to put in it and my neck warmer, My mom then told me that my grandma and her friend used to make a bunch and then sell these these neck warmers, so I called her and she said flax seed or rice . I thought we might not have flax seed but we might have rice. I looked around for a while then my mom said we don't have any. Now of course I was thinking you could have told me that earlier. So my mom started getting mad that the sewing machine was still out a few days later but I told her that we have no rice. She then decided to look with me and she found some HOOOOOWWWWWWW? Then I cut out the neck warmer sewed it up very fast and then my parents needed to go somewhere so it was me and my older sister and we were kinda crazy ( maybe that's why they left), but anyways she was helping me and we weren't aloud to sew anymore so we grabbed a funnel thing and put the rice in and it filled barely anything. Me and Jaylen my older sister were looking for something to sent it and Jaylen was texting my dad and then we went to our garage to check if my neck warmer fir in the microwave and found my dads phone wast of texting. Then a few days later my dad finally brought some rice. I finished my project and scented it with lavender.
So a few days ago I worked on the blanket and had some problems we started sewing both the fabrics together the things that went well was that I got the fabrics together and I finished the base of the blanket. The problem was that I could not get my two fabrics evenly together and also the fabric was fraying a lot so I then learned that to keep things from fraying you use the zig-zag stitch. I also made something on the blanket that was kinda like a pocket for a stuffy and I even figured out how to fit the entire blanket into the pocket : all you do is fold all the blanket part behind the pocket put your hand through the pocket and turn it inside out and voilà, you can use it for a pillow now.
Here are some pictures of my blanket. I had problems with getting the footprints and blue side put together evenly and figuring out how to fold it into the pillow and getting that all even and not bumped, one big problem was the fabric was fraying so I learned that when you want it to stop fraying you change the stitch to zig- zag it stops fraying. I was planning to learn how to do other stitches because I thought I knew a lot about sewing but really I learned a lot about how to use the sewing machine.
that is one side of the blanket and then....
now this side has a pocket for a stuffy or you can turn it into a pillow that looks like this....
Yesterday I finished my project heres how it went. My goal for yesterday was to finish the pocket so it would be done, to achive this I needed to bring my blanket, bring yarn and a needle and sew it together. I achieved part of my goal I finished two sides and finished the bottom at home. The things that went well were that I finished my project. I fixed it so it was evenly folded in, also I fixed the part-ish that I cut off. The problems that I had were that I cut off too much and had to fix that, I tried one stitch and it didn't work so I had to start over on half of it. Then we found a new stitch that I liked. Now I might find some things to add.
I will be making a blanket with a sewing machine and by hand. I have been sewing since I was in grade 1, making bags, I've made a dress and pants and more stuff. I will be learning how to put a bunch of designs on the blanket. I will also learn how to put writing on the blanket and putting designs around the outside.
The WORLD is a crazy place, filled with things that are left unanswered. That is not good enough for me. I want to learn.
I want to learn why companies get rid of things so people buy other things of theirs? Before they came up with drawing boards what did people go back to? I want to learn why Friday the thirteenth is an unlucky day why not any other day? Why do we need bad words? Who would change the A word to such a bad thing? Are flamingo’s really pink because they have too much shrimp? If flamingos do turn pink because of shrimp will I? Why do people kill animals what did they ever do to you? How many wires are in a house? Why English is so confusing for people just learning it? How do people make metal?
